My guitar guru Roland, who owns a Les Paul 25/50, dosn't play much anymore although he can play like Santana, said one of the guys he plays with is a poser who plays guitar just to be onstage. He plays poorly and sings worse, but wants to be a star.
Doug, another of my guitar playing friends, plays to accompany his singing.
Some use the guitar to help them write music.
I've been playing for years, and never thought of being on stage or singing. I've played with other guitarists maybe four times.
Why do you play? Or what made you pick the guitar up and stay with it long enough to play well enough to satisfy yourself? Are you still getting better, or have you quit progressing? Why?
